Lecture by Ana Fernandes, Universidade Federal da Bahia [language: Portuguese with Italian translation]
Ana Maria Fernandes is a full professor at the Faculty of Architecture at the Federal University of Bahia, where she was director between 1999 and 2003. She hold a PhD (1985) in Aménagement et Environnement from the Université de Paris XII (Paris-Val-de-Marne) and completed a post-doctorate study at Columbia University (1996-1997) and at the École d’Architecture Paris Malaquais (2004). She is a National Research Council researcher coordinator of the research group “Lugar Comum” (Common Place). Her main areas of teaching and research are: History and Memory of the City and Urbanism; Production of the City, Public Spaces, Common Spaces; Politics and the Right to the City.

Lecture by Humberto Tommasino, Universidad de la República, Uruguay [language: Spanish with Italian translation]
Humberto Tommasino is mainly involved in the Extension Area, while coordinator of the Department of Social Sciences and coordinator of the Master’s Program in Rural Education and Extension. Tommasino was Pro-Rector of Extension at the University of the Republic (2006-2014) and President of the Latin American Union of University Extension (2007-2009), as well as an invited lecturer at conferences in various Latin American and Caribbean countries. He is an academic as well as an activist in popular education, following Paulo Freire tradition, and social movements agenda. However, he believes in the central role of the institutional building of Third Mission in Latin American universities. Therefore, he is the mentor of the concept of Integrality in higher education as well as in territorial work with participatory approaches.

Lecture by Kenneth Reardon, UMass Boston [language: English with Italian translation]
Kenneth M. Reardon recently retired from the Department of Urban Planning and Community Development at the University of Massachusetts Boston, where he engaged in research, teaching, and outreach focused on resident-led change, affordable housing policy, and community/university development partnerships. With the help of several of his colleagues, Ken launched The Boston Pipeline for Youth of Color in Urban Planning to address the persistent lack of diversity in the planning profession. He is the co-Director of The Davidoff Tapes Project, he is currently working on a joint biography of Paul and Linda Davidoff. Ken has served as director of the graduate program of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Memphis and as associate professor and chair of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at AAP (College of Architecture, Art, and Planning).
