Tommasino was Pro-Rector of Extension at the University of the Republic (2006-2014) and President of the Latin American Union of University Extension (2007-2009), as well as an invited lecturer at conferences in various Latin American and Caribbean countries. He is an academic as well as an activist in popular education, following Paulo Freire tradition, and social movements agenda. However, he believes in the central role of the institutional building of Third Mission in Latin American universities. Reardon recently retired from the Department of Urban Planning and Community Development at the University of Massachusetts Boston, where he engaged in research, teaching, and outreach focused on resident-led change, affordable housing policy, and community\/university development partnerships. With the help of several of his colleagues, Ken launched The Boston Pipeline for Youth of Color in Urban Planning to address the persistent lack of diversity in the planning profession. He is the co-Director of The Davidoff Tapes Project, he is currently working on a joint biography of Paul and Linda Davidoff.
